Presenting this year’s Sole Mates Luncheon Guest Speaker:

Daunte Culpepper

Daunte Culpepper, born January 28, 1977, is a former NFL quarterback best known for his record-setting career with the Minnesota Vikings. While his mother was pregnant with him, she was imprisoned. Culpepper was adopted when he was a day old and raised as one of 15 children by the late Emma Lewis Culpepper, who worked in the correctional facility where his mother was held.

Although low SAT scores kept him from being recruited by major football programs like the University of Miami and the University of Florida, Daunte’s persistence led him to the University of Central Florida. There, he shattered nearly 30 school records, set an NCAA single-season completion percentage record, and became one of only three players in history to surpass 10,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards.

Drafted 11th overall in 1999, he went on to a celebrated NFL career, including three Pro Bowl selections, leading the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship, and breaking Dan Marino’s single-season total yardage record. Beyond football, Daunte honors his upbringing by supporting adoption initiatives, youth programs, and community organizations, continuing to inspire others with his story.
