January marks our 8th anniversary, and our 9th year stands to be the biggest and best yet.
What started as only an idea, two dedicated volunteers and one student, has since grown into a tremendous resource for academics and foster care. Today, our staff of thirteen serves over 150 children from kindergarten through college, and we’re continuing to grow each and every day.
We’ve come a long way since 2010, but the focus of BFF is steadfast. By helping foster care children succeed academically, our team ensures that these students overcome adversity to become independent, self-sufficient adults. Whether we’re teaching a 7-year-old to read, organizing a high school student’s backpack, or navigating financial aid applications for a college student, BFF coaches are always willing to go the extra mile.
When we take a step back and look at all we’ve accomplished, it’s hard to believe we ever asked ourselves if this could even work. If we could really turn a passionate idea into a full-fledged organization. Well, considering the stellar achievements of our students, the answer is a resounding YES! It works! In honor of our 8th anniversary, here are 8 things we can attribute to this success:
1. Our volunteers
2. Our donors
3. Our staff
4. Our students
5. Our partners
6. Our programs
7. Our perseverance
8. Our commitment
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our community. So, thank you, everyone, for an incredible eight years! We already have some exciting things planned for next year, and look forward to what is yet to come!
