Teachers, who love teaching, teach children to love learning! ~Robert John Meehan
We all remember our favorite teachers, teachers who helped shape our lives and whose memory immediately transport us back to the classroom. Teachers make a lasting impact that remains beyond our school days. Teachers are important to all children, but to children in foster care, they can be a powerful force in their lives, providing a feeling of safety and advocacy.
Though we should celebrate these men and women every day of the school year, May 7-11, 2018 is all about the educators. It’s Teacher Appreciation Week!
With roughly 3 million public school teachers in the United States, who champion curiosity and encourage creativity while equipping students with knowledge and skills for the future. Teachers are real-life superheroes, and Best Foot Forward is incredibly proud to team up with so many wonderful educators here in Palm Beach County.
Our BFF Coaches work closely with our elementary school teachers to emphasize reading remediation, reinforce curriculum, and provide supplemented materials for our students. In high school and college, it requires much more comprehensive strategies like study, test taking and self-advocacy skills, along with team problem solving. Through these collaborative efforts, Best Foot Forward is able to provide foster care youth with the utmost support, attention, and resources to succeed.
To every teacher out there, thank you for the lesson plans, coursework, and teachable moments in between. You are all A+ in our book!
