Children in foster care face many challenges stemming from the chaotic and challenging circumstances of their families and lack of early childhood education. Most have lived in poverty and have suffered abuse and neglect, and there is often little stability in their lives. This lack of stability is most evident in education. Youth typically enter foster care academically behind their peers and the deficits are further compounded by the trauma they encounter through changing homes and changing schools.
After extensive research and program development, BFF was formed to meet the educational needs of foster care youth, preventing the dismal outcomes that are typically seen. Our program has proven successful in helping foster youth overcome tough odds by empowering them to reach their full potential.
